Gear

The club has beginner to intermediate gear for archers to shoot (in compound, recurve and traditional styles), but in some instances, members may want to bring their own gear to shoot. Recurve, compound and traditional bows are allowed – crossbows are not. Only field and target points may be shot – no broadheads. There is a draw weight limit of 60# on compound bows because our targets cannot handle the higher poundage bows.

    Overall guidelines:

  1. All bows not owned by the club are subject to a coach’s inspection for safety and may not be shot until approved. This can occur at practice or outside of practice.
  2. Archery bows cannot be stored in on-campus housing per University rules.
  3. If you would like to store your bow with the club’s equipment, please contact a coach or captain to arrange to have your bow put in the storage cages in the bottom floor of the Hamel Rec center.
If your bow is stored with the club equipment, it must:

  1. Be in a case that can adequately protect the bow. A case can be purchased very inexpensively, so see the coaches if you are looking to buy one.
  2. Be labeled with your name and phone number

In order for your bow to be brought across the street for practice, you must either a) meet at the Whitt loading dock 1/2 an hour before practice and get your bow while gear is being loaded, or b) send an email to unh.archery@gmail.com at least 24hours in advance of practice requesting that we bring your bow over. You may email a schedule, but please note that if we bring your bow over for 3 consecutive practices and you do not arrive to shoot it, we will not bring us with it again until you give us further notice. We have limited space in both the cages and the truck, so these policies are to help the club be as efficient as it can.
